Abstract

In this paper, two methods for calculating the transfer of thermal radiation, which were used in solving problems of aerothermodynamics of descent space capsules: the method of discrete directions (the ray-tracing method) and the method of half-moments are considered in detail. The specificity of the first calculation method is the correct consideration of the angular dependence of the spectral intensity of thermal radiation, which makes it universal in solving two-dimensional and three-dimensional problems. The second method is intended for efficient solution of quasi-one-dimensional problems in the theory of selective thermal radiation transfer, including radiation transfer in the spectral lines of atoms and ions.
