Modelling the Global Distribution of Beaching of Marine Plastic

Abstract

A simple parametrisation of beaching in Lagrangian simulations of floating marine plastic show that 92.7% of particles beach within 10 years. This indicates the coastlines are likely a significant sink for marine plastic debris.
