Abstract

We review approaches to explain mechanisms of control of uniformity (narrow distribution) of sizes and shapes in solution synthesis of nanosize crystals and colloid particles. We address aspects of modeling of geometrical features and morphology selection, emerging as results of kinetic processes involving diffusional transport of matter, ranging from nucleation to growth by aggregation and to mechanisms of formation of well-defined shapes.
