About this book

This book describes nanomaterials used and existing in the environment, food industry and packaging, health care products and cosmetics, housekeeping, nanomaterials for cleaning purposes, architectural building products, medicine, clothing and textile, smart electronics and sensors. Each chapter provides basic knowledge on synthesis of nanomaterials by biological approaches. Fundamental terms are defined, followed by explanatons, examples, visual photographs, schemes and illustrations.

Table of Contents

Frontmatter
Chapter 1. Nanomaterials in the Environment
Abstract
Application of nanomaterials exhibits significant character due to specific and valuable physiochemical properties of nanosized materials in contrast to the bulk materials. Such promising advantages of nanomaterials among bulk materials are illustrated in Fig. 1.1.

Chapter 2. Nanomaterials in Food Industry and Packaging
Abstract
Nanomaterials are playing significant role in agriculture, by inclusion into fertilizer compounds and supplyin.g the necessary nutrition for the growing plants. Nanomaterials with the nanotechnology used in fertilizers and plant protecting are divided into three categories such as (1) nanoscale fertilizer input, (2) nanoscale additives, and (3) nanoscale coatings or host materials for fertilizers.
Zhypargul Abdullaeva
Chapter 3. Nanomaterials in Health care and Cosmetics
Abstract
Liposomes are defined as vesicular structures with an aqueous core surrounded by a hydrophobic lipid bilayer of phospholipids and the liposomes which have vesicles with size of 15 nm are called as nanoliposomes (Ahmad 2012).
Zhypargul Abdullaeva
Chapter 4. Nanomaterials in Medicine
Abstract
Emerging field of life science, also related to the future medicine encompassing the application of nanotechnologies to drug delivery, diagnostics, or regenerative medicine (Owen 2014).
Zhypargul Abdullaeva
Chapter 5. Nanomaterials for Building and Protection
Abstract
Nanocomposite materials are composites materials with nano size. Nanocomposites have been used for architectural building, coating, automobile, space and technology applications. In this chapter types of various nanocomposite materials such as nanorubber, graphene based polymeric composites, acrylic paint nanocomposites were described. Physio-mechanical, mechanical and repellent properties of these nanomaterials allow to use them above applications.
Zhypargul Abdullaeva
Chapter 6. Nanomaterials for Clothing and Textile Products
Abstract
Textile is referred to any woven fabric or cloth, also to the raw material suitable to be made into cloth (e.g., fiber or yarn), while clothing is defined as an article designed to cover, protect, or adorn the body, while fashion is the area of activity that involves styles of clothing and appearance (Collins Dict. 2016).

Chapter 7. Smart Electronics and Sensors
Abstract
Smart electronics can be defined as an electronic device capable to operate individually by using radio technology for electronic communication existing between mobile phones, the Internet, and computers.
