In a way, what you are now reading is a dummy text: The Consumer Electronics Show CES recently took place, and I wasn't there. Sort of, my absence catapults the show into the realm of insignificance already. Anyways, I take the liberty of a comment about the show from a perspective representing the state of the European automotive industry. At the moment, said industry seems to face three scenarios: a) catastrophic and devoid of hope; b) catastrophic with a glimmer of hope; c) a flock of headless chickens convinced they'll survive somehow. The most applicable is surely c), which, being the first letter of it, brings us right back to the CES. On the 3^rd of January 2023, “heise Autos” made the smug comment that “despite the announcement of high-ranking visitors, the automotive sector at the CES remains no more than a junior partner to the Tech companies (…). For years, tens of thousands of tech nerds have only perceived automotive manufacturers only in passing (…).” …
