The fourth generation of the Kia Sorento will be available on the market as an HEV, PHEV and with a diesel engine. The larger platform offers the option of a third row of seats and space for up to seven people.

Kia presented the new Sorento online. The new top-of-the-range model was originally due to be revealed at the now cancelled 2020 Geneva Motor Show. The SUV is based on the third generation of the mid-size SUV platform and is now 4,810 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,695 mm high. The wheelbase has increased to 2,815 mm. With its steel and aluminium body, the SUV weighs between 1.7 and 1.8 tonnes, depending on the version. The front design sports a new interpretation of the "tiger nose" grille, as well as LED daytime running lights that are meant to evoke the eyes of a tiger. The vertical rear lights resemble those of the large Kia Telluride.

The engine range consists of two hybrid versions and a diesel engine. The 1.6 T-GDI hybrid provides a system performance of 169 kW (230 HP) and a total torque of 350 N m. The petrol engine produces 132 kW (180 HP) of power and 265 N m of torque, and the electric motor integrated in the six-speed automatic gearbox provides an additional 44.2 kW (60.1 HP) and 264 N m. The 270 V lithium-ion polymer battery offers a capacity of 1.49 kWh. The Kia Sorento 1.6 T-GDI plug-in hybrid is due to come on the market at the end of 2020. The 2.2 CRDi diesel engine provides 148 kW (202 HP) of power and 440 N m of torque, with an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox for power transmission. Front-wheel drive is available as standard, while all three versions are optionally available as all-wheel drives. Together with the Terrain Mode System, the all-wheel drive can be adapted to various different surface types.

The Kia Sorento can fit up to seven people

The interior of the Kia Sorento provides space for up to seven people. The seat covers are available in fabric, leather or nappa leather and, in some cases, can be two-tone. The digital instrument cluster is 12.3 inches in size, and the infotainment system touchscreen on the centre console is between 8 and 10.25 inches in size. A head-up display is also optionally available. The most premium version of the infotainment system features an integrated SIM to provide UVO Connect online services. As a five-seater, the SUV has up to 910 L of luggage space, and 821 L as a seven-seater with the third row of seats folded down. The hybrid versions offer 902 L and 813 L respectively.
