Abstract
Research into web accessibility tools in Saudi Arabia is limited. Many Arabic websites have accessibility limitations which prove challenging for people with disabilities. The purpose of this study is to create awareness of web accessibility for Arabic-speaking people and to demonstrate the efficacy of an Arabic accessibility checker prototype. Challenges in the internationalization of the interface design that were overcome using creative solutions to develop this tool are discussed. The first version of the tool solved the limitations of previous Arabic accessibility checkers. The usability of the tool which we called Arabic Accessibility Testing Tool (AATT) was investigated. Specifically, this paper presents work-in-progress research in the area of Arabic web accessibility issues and cross-cultural interface design.
