Porsche presents the 911 GT3 R customer race car

The single-seat 911 GT3 R customer race car uses the lightweight body of the standard GT3 RS, which combines an aluminium-steel hybrid chassis with components of carbon fibre composite. The roof, bonnet and front end, wings, doors, side and rear sections, boot lid and inner trim are all made of lightweight CFRP. 

The rear end houses a slightly modified four-litre flat-six engine that achieves up to 404 kW (542 bhp). It features variable camshaft control for the intake and exhaust valves and six individual throttle bodies. Power is transmitted by a sequential six-speed constant-mesh gearbox with electronic shift actuator that doesn't need a clutch pedal.

The wheelhouses are vented via slats in the front wings to increase the downforce on the front axle, further assisted by the 1,900-millimetre-wide rear wing. On the front axle, six-piston aluminium monobloc racing brake callipers are combined with internally vented and slotted steel brake discs 390 millimetres in diameter. The rear axle features four-piston callipers and discs with a 370 millimetre diameter.

In the interior, the modified cockpit offers the pilot a full bucket seat and adjustable pedals. The doors and polycarbonate side windows can be removed. For the first time, the 911 GT3 R comes with air conditioning.
