The homologation with real driving emissions has increased the focus on pollutant emissions from real driving during the development phase. The change in the certification process has given rise to new requirements which cannot be met effectively using traditional development procedures. The Institute for Internal Combustion Engines and Powertrain Systems at the Technical University of Darmstadt has created a development methodology that enables test bench investigations to be supplemented with real-time simulations which represent real driving conditions. …
