The advancement of the various branches of geoinformatics (which include for example geographic information systems, global navigation satellite systems, photogrammetry, cartography, geodesy, web mapping, and remote sensing) is crucial to research nowadays in the monitoring and management of natural hazards, land use changes and natural resources.
