Abstract

Although large, beautiful and diversified, Chinese landscape parks are generally unknown to both the American and European public. Pressure for economic profit triggered by changes in the country’s economy resulted in over exploitation of some of them. There are many reasons for this situation including the administrative system, planning, management etc. Analysis of the systems established in the world, manners and methods of parks’ development will help to ensure successful creation of scenic historical landscape parks and national parks in China. Furthermore, cooperation with international institutions and organizations will force Chinese authorities to adhere to the internationally recognized rules and regulations. Therefore, a model of contemporary Historical Scenic Area which confirms and supports at the same time Chinese local features and traditions is going to be based upon general experience of parks in the world supervised by international organizations.
