Abstract

Higher education institutions are core elements in the sustainable development paradigm because they prepare the future decision-makers of the local, national, or international societies. At the same time, many colleges and universities just declare their sustainability support and rarely use a quantitative approach to analyze/manage this area. It is happening because of sustainable development paradigm complexity, reusability problems of already created tools/models, and some methodological difficulties to use already available big data. This paper introduces an approach where we use simulation as a united methodological platform to combine sustainability, big data, and local community needs for particular numerical analysis. Within the simulation case study, we analyze the transportation system as a part of the sustainability of a young fast-growing higher education institution, the USA.
