Abstract

As business environments become more volatile and digitized due to the development of digital technology, IT plays an important role in company. Researchers pay more and more attention to the development of dynamic capabilities that enable company respond more effectively. However, the mechanism of how firms foster capabilities to construct commercial ecosystem is still to explore. Using boundary spanning as a theoretical lens, the case study inductively derived a process framework that identifies two key IT-capabilities offered clear guideposts on how these capabilities may be developed to realize commercial ecosystem. Our study benefits both academics and practitioners by contributing to cumulative theoretical developments and by providing practical insights.
