Abstract

This chapter covers how the back-end database engine is designed. The process of logic data modeling to produce a complete Entity Relational Diagram is covered, as well as methods of transferring data to multiple data storage facilities. Creation of data repositories is also discussed. The chapter effectively completes the data portion of the requirements document. The new paradigm of “big data” and predictive analytics has brought new attention to the importance of the data and its ability to serve multiple applications as a stand-alone asset. Data needs to be developed from new sources and as a result has established its own life cycle of development.
