Abstract

Information dedicated to electronic media has been experiencing an exponential growth and in turn, modern technology has brought about change in the way governments, organizations and individuals carry out their business. This leads to the transformation of the nature of dealing with records. In the context of Higher Professional Education (HPE) of developing countries, computers as well as other ICT infrastructure have shown a considerable increase and this had led to a monumental amount of e-records. However, without the appropriate management strategy, e-records may include unauthentic, unreliable information that lacks integrity, and is thus unusable. In this background, Electronics Records Management System (ERMS), a system for e-records management could play a key role in efficiently and effectively managing records within organizations. This paper’s objectives were two-fold; first, it focuses on examining ERMS in HPE institutions and demonstrates the research requirements; and second, it presents the crucial factors that influence the ERMS adoption in the HPE sector. Quantitative approach is used to collect data from 364 respondents. Findings show that system quality, information quality and service quality have significant relationship with intention to adopt ERMS.
