Abstract

This study investigates the effect of perceptions of Islamic banks on job pursuit intention among students from Islamic-based universities in Indonesia. The focus of this research is three aspects of the perception of Islamic banks, namely, negative perception, future perception, and suspicious perception. Then the effect of these three aspects affects job pursuit intention at Islamic banks.
For this study, we utilized SmartPLS to process the data using a quantitative approach. The research sample consisted of 108 respondents who were students from various Islamic-based universities in Indonesia. The information was gathered via an online survey.
The results showed that negative and future perceptions of Islamic banks did not significantly affect students’ job pursuit intentions. However, it was found that suspicious perceptions of Islamic banks significantly negatively affect students’ job pursuit intentions. This shows that the lower the students’ suspicion perception toward Islamic banks, the higher their job pursuit intention.
