Abstract
Every day, many billions or even trillions of transactions are processed by the ever-growing number of Azure SQL databases deployed globally in the Microsoft Azure public and government clouds. The number of transactions and the size of these databases are continuously increasing. The accelerating adoption of public cloud technology has enabled new use cases for Azure SQL databases as well as the migration of larger line-of-business applications from on-premises SQL servers.
