Cooling circuits with indirect cooling elements are used, for example, for cooling recirculated exhaust gas or the charge air of modern internal combustion engines. As shown by a model developed by IAV, the efficiency of the complete system can be traced back analytically to the efficiencies of the individual components in the cooling circuit. The feasibility of applying the calculation model to a passenger car engine is shown on the basis of vehicle measurement results. …
