Abstract

Within the temperature range from 160 to 220 \(^\circ \)C, an increase of 20 K doubled the mass loss of thermally modified African alpine bamboo (Yushania alpina). It reflected the decomposition of hemicelluloses and correlated with the deterioration of impact resistance. The treatment temperatures had a stronger effect than the time of modification.
