Abstract

Digitalization is a continuous process that involves various components such as technological advancements, a company’s level of adoption of new technologies, and the readiness of the market to embrace digitalization. In this paper, the authors analyze several digital maturity models that are applicable to all industries. Drawing on the relevant literature, the paper proposes an easy-to-apply digital maturity model, Digital Maturity Scorecard (DMS), that is based on quantifiable digital KPIs. The aim of the model is to provide companies across industries with a holistic approach to their digital operations and readiness. The proposed model includes a novel dimension that examines the readiness of both the market and customers for the degree of digitization that the organization seeks to achieve in the future. This article presents a significant contribution to the literature on digital maturity, particularly with regards to its unique approach to the process of digitalization and the proposed digital maturity model. The model’s key feature is the inclusion of a dimension that assesses the market and customer readiness for digitalization.
