I am using the term “business” across this book to describe entities benefiting from well-managed data. This is, of course, not really accurate as it suggests a clear distinction between data service providers and data service consumers. In fact, while IT is mostly a service provider in this context, it is also a consumer where data helps manage the IT “business.”
