The reliable operation of SCR systems with construction and agricultural machinery is endangered by extreme contamination of the urea solution. Mann+Hummel has now presented a new filter module which finds application as an optional adaptable system upstream of the SCR unit. Protection against freezing of the urea is ensured by patented compensation elements. An electric or hydraulic heater enables the independent defrosting of the filter system. The suction-side application of the filter module leads to the release of air on the dirty side of the filter. The air is removed by a patented ventilation membrane which ensures the reliable operation of the SCR system. The function of the membrane was validated on a test bench which was specially developed for the application. …
