We define an easy to compute and not computational demanding functional depth which gives results comparable to those obtained with more involved depths. When applied in finite-dimensional settings, it can be seen as an approximation to the Tukey depth as it uses a finite number of randomly chosen one-dimensional projections while the Tukey depth considers all-possible one-dimensional projections.
