Abstract

In this paper we present our research activity on Residence Times Difference (RTD) fluxgate magnetometers starting from a single-structure toward coupled systems through the adoption of innovative transduction methodologies and materials. The Residence Times Difference (RTD) fluxgate magnetometer represents an innovative solution to detect quasi static magnetic field with high performances, low cost, small dimension and low power consumption. It is suitable to be applied in several application fields such as space, biomedical, ferromagnetic particles detection and so on. Furthermore recent studies have shown that unidirectional coupling of nonlinear systems (such as RTD-Fluxgates) can induce oscillations in overdamped and undriven dynamical systems that are non-oscillatory when uncoupled. This principle has been applied to the realization of a novel system based on unidirectionally coupled fluxgate magnetometers. This approach is particularly suitable for the detection of weak DC target magnetic fields without bias signal and higher performance in terms of resolution compared with the single-core structure.
