Rather independent of whether a classical application system, a database system or an expert system is to be developed, today’s major bottlenecks are at the early phases of development. The difficulty is in collecting, classifying and visualizing all relevant information and in identifying proper objects along with their components and behavior. This problem is intensified as a loosely structured domain of discourse usually has to be analyzed, and no real method exists for this task. A second difficulty is the recognition and reuse of already analyzed and designed components.
