An Efficient On-demand Link Failure Local Recovery Multicast Routing Protocol

Abstract

Multicast routing is a crucial task in Mobile Ad-hoc Networks due to the wireless nature of the network. Route maintenance is challenging in MANETs due to frequent link failures which causes high packet loss and end-to-end delay. To overcome these problems many link recovery techniques have been proposed but every technique has its own limitations. The aim of this paper is to overcome the problem of link failures through local recovery technique in MANETs. In this study, we propose a novel route recovery algorithm which helps to find out an alternate path based on localization in case of a link failure in the network. Our proposed algorithm may reduce the overhead of control packet, delay and increases the throughput.
