Significantly improved consumption figures can be achieved particularly at cycle-relevant operating points thanks to downsizing. However, inefficiencies often arise in real world operation, which lead to increased discrepancies between official and actual consumption. This is why Mahle has measured the actual consumption of a vehicle with its own downsizing engine developed in-house for a range of road types and driving styles.
