CO2 emissions also occur during the production phase of a vehicle. In order to influence the potential environmental impacts of body parts of the product development process as soon as possible, Volkswagen and the Technical University of Braunschweig work on a methodology with which optimized body part concepts can be found already in the early development phase. For this purpose, the parts of the body are compared and evaluated with a simplified approach to calculate the cumulative energy demand. …
