The changes in the automotive industry provoked by electric mobility and automated driving pose major challenges for manufacturers and their suppliers alike. In particular, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME, German: KMU) in the supplier sector face considerable difficulties in identifying market and technology trends that are relevant to their interests at an early stage. However, this is an inevitable requirement to initiate necessary product innovation activities early on and to introduce necessary measures for the adaptation of the product portfolio.
