Bionics is the application of biological methods and systems found in nature to the study and design of engineering systems and modern technology [Bio10].
The term Bionics (from
bio
logy and electro
nics
) is sometimes interchangeably used for a Biomimetics and Biomimicry (from bios = life, and mimesis = to imitate). Bionics is related to applying ideas seen in nature for solving scientific, technical, or engineering problems. Biomimetics is therefore an interdisciplinary field where scientists from different scientific fields like Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Engineering work together towards developing various solutions based on observations of processes seen in nature. All these techniques are based on solving new problems from solutions to previous problems found in nature.
