The article entitled “On the degradation evolution equations of cellulose”, which is appearing in this issue of Cellulose, chooses to express the kinetics of cellulose degradation in terms of retention of the degree of polymerisation (DP) and introduces a new function ωDPDP =  1−DP/DP°) defined as the accumulated DP loss of cellulose. The degradation at macroscopic level has been correlated with the degradation at molecular level by means of a first-order kinetics given by ωDP = ω*DP(1−e−kt). …
