Editorial for JREFE’s Special Issue

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and The National University of Singapore (NUS) are proud to present the fourth HKU-NUS special issue of Journal of Real Estate Finance & Economics. All papers published in the special issue have survived various stages of scrutiny, review, and selection, including selection for presentation by the symposium review committee, review by discussants, presentation and defense during the symposium, and the double blind review process of JREFE. Similar to the previous special issues, the special issue has a stronger Asian flavor compared to other JREFE issues. In this special issue, there are three papers on Asian markets. Asia has many markets undergoing different stages of interesting development, which offers opportunities for testing theories and hypotheses that are easily tested with empirical data from other more developed markets. We hope this special issue will help promote more research on Asian real estate markets, many of which are under-researched and about which very little is known, despite their increasing importance in the global real estate and investment markets. …
