Ford has presented the battery-electric Ford Pro Electric Supervan at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The high-performance van is based on the E-Transit Custom, which will be launched next year.

The strikingly painted Ford Pro Electric Supervan wears a front splitter, distinctive flared wheel arches and side skirts, as well as roof spoilers and a diffuser at the rear. It was developed by Ford’s global performance team with input from rally and race car specialist Stard and Ford’s design team in Cologne (Germany). The floor assembly with a steel frame comes from the E-Transit Custom and was combined with body components made of weight-optimized composite materials. The heavily modified chassis features asymmetrically long double wishbones, special suspension struts, additional frames taken from motorsport on the front and rear axles and reinforced brakes.
The spartan interior is equipped with an extensive racing safety package, including bucket seats and a roll cage. The driver looks at a digital instrument cluster and can access the real-time networked infotainment system via a large Sync touchscreen. As a van, the Electric Supervan has a cargo area behind the driver’s cabin and a cargo hatch in the body passenger side.
Fourth generation Ford Supervan
The Electric Supervan has four electric motors that provide 1471 kW (2000 PS) of system power. Power is distributed to all four wheels. As a result, the one-off accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 2 s. With Road, Track, Drag, Drift and Rally, the Supervan offers five driving programs. E-boost can be used to call up additional power for a limited period. It also features traction control, a pit lane speed limiter and three-stage brake energy recuperation. The specially designed, liquid-cooled 50 kW battery is located low and centrally in the chassis. It is said to be fully rechargeable in about 45 min at a fast-charging station.
The Ford Pro Electric Supervan was demonstrated at the legendary “Hillclimb” at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Experience with the technology carrier will be incorporated into the development of future production and racing vehicles. “With a battery-electric output of 2000 PS, the Ford Pro Electric Supervan offers endless driving pleasure and combines this with a distinctive design inspired by the new E-Transit Custom. In this way, we are transporting the Supervan idea into the 21st century,” says Mark Rushbrook, Director Ford Performance Motorsport. Ford presented the first Supervan in 1971.
