Abstract

The article investigates the use of laser treatment to enhance the pitting resistance of AISI 430 stainless steel, a material widely used in various industries. It discusses the challenges of corrosion in different environments and the limitations of existing protection methods. The study focuses on the development of a method using a pulsed fiber laser to create a protective oxide layer and a hydrophobic surface on the steel. The research involves detailed experiments to evaluate the surface morphology, chemical composition, and corrosion resistance of the treated steel. The results highlight the effectiveness of laser treatment in improving pitting resistance, with specific modes demonstrating superior performance. The article concludes by emphasizing the need for further research to fully understand the complex factors affecting corrosion resistance.
