Abstract

The article delves into the numerical investigation of an all-optical tunable gyroscope using photonic crystal in nonlinear nanostructures for rotation sensing applications. It begins by discussing the compatibility of optical gyroscopes with nano and micro photonic components, emphasizing their high reliability and small dimensions. The operating principles of optical gyroscopes, based on the Sagnac effect, are explained, where the phase shift between clockwise and counterclockwise optical signals indicates rotation. The paper then explores the design and simulation of the proposed gyroscope, which consists of a bus waveguide and five regular hexagonal resonators. The nonlinear Kerr effects and resonance phenomena in the resonators are investigated, with particular attention paid to the refractive index changes and output power variations. The results show that the gyroscope can achieve a high sensitivity and small footprint, making it a promising candidate for miniaturized rotation sensing applications. The article concludes by highlighting the potential of the proposed gyroscope in various applications, including navigation and guidance systems.
