Abstract

The primary purpose of this chapter is to examine the life of Joseph and the connections between his early experiences with personal crises and his later success in leading Egypt through crisis. A four-phase model of crisis leadership is presented, and Joseph’s development as a crisis leader is examined vis-à-vis Romans 5:3-5. The data examined will be the narrative of Joseph’s life, specifically focusing on his journey from being Jacob’s favorite son to becoming a slave and a prisoner, his promotion to becoming the second most powerful person in Egypt, and the text relating to his leadership and management of Egypt.
