Forgings, in particular, have a large carbon footprint due to the production of the starting material and due to heating processes before forging as well as during heat treatment. Superior strength components for powertrain, chassis, and body will continue to be needed in the future, and so the production process must be sustainably aligned. In the Nocarbforging 2050 project, the German Forging Association and prosimalys therefore present a CO2 calculation tool in a first phase. …
