Abstract
As I sit down to write this article, the Igloo team is reflecting on the success of a truly fascinating three-day event.
We have just been participating in a so called Capability Concept Demonstrator for the UK’s Ministry of Defence and the Royal School of Artillery. Staged at the Land Warfare Centre at Warminster in the South of England, this involved the collaboration of several different technology partners. Together, we were demonstrating how military simulation exercises could be made more immersive, more versatile and, importantly, more affordable than ever before. I’m proud to say that Igloo played a pivotal role.
It is all a very long way from where Igloo started.
However, importantly, it was the way Igloo did start that determined our current capabilities. It defined the nature of our technology. It gave us an optimistic “can do” approach. It taught us to seek unconventional yet highly pragmatic answers to difficult questions.
So, what I would like to do in this article is offer a quick insight into the Igloo history and our related attributes and then go on to discuss our activities in 360°- gaming and simulations. I will also offer some broad predictions for the future of our technology.
