In a study of RWTH Aachen University, the available approaches for determining the major battery states, namely battery SoC and SoAP are reviewed. The focus lies on a brief and concise elaboration of strengths and weaknesses of the methods. In total, it can be summarized that a wide range of techniques for battery state estimation have been investigated in recent years. However, most of the presented methods are evaluated on cell level where the parameters influencing the applied monitoring algorithms on system level, are neglected. In our opinion, the most promising state-of-the-art methods for estimating the aforementioned battery states are based on Equivalent Circuit Models. …
