Abstract

With the aim of improving the quality of the axial zone of semifinished products cast on continuous caster No. 6 in the oxygen-converter shop at the MMK, experiments were carried out to find an efficient location for the working channel of the caster in order to perform soft reduction on the semifinished product. The experiments also had the goal of determining an efficient degree of soft reduction. The experimental results that were obtained have made it possible to improve the macrostructure in the axial region of continuouscast slabs.
