As part of a research project at the University of Wuppertal, the droplet detachment process on a motorcycle helmet visor was experimentally investigated in a wind tunnel. Additionally, the flow around the helmet for the different conditions was simulated using computational fluid dynamics. Based on the single-phase flow calculations, the detachment effects of the droplets and measures needed to improve the visibility of the helmet can be predicted. …
