Zusammenfassung

Um die neueste Geschichtsschreibung am besten wiederzugeben, konzentriert sich dieses Kapitel notwendigerweise auf Entwicklungen in Irland während der Tudorzeit (1485–1603), einer Zeit zunehmender politischer Konflikte. Leider werden Themen wie zwischenmenschliche Konflikte, teils aufgrund des langsamen Wachstums gesellschafts- und rechtsgeschichtlicher Studien in Irland, noch nicht hinreichend untersucht, und obwohl es beträchtlichen Raum für diese Art von Forschung gibt, wird die umfangreiche Vernichtung irischer Archive seit der Frühen Neuzeit ihre Entwicklung weiter hemmen. Die übrig gebliebenen Archive zeugen vor allem von politischen Konflikten.
