To ensure the required functionality of each system as well as their interaction in the vehicle, the systems are connected in an integrated network and then validated. This is done at the Ford product development centre in Cologne. For that, the components are mounted on a test rack and connected with cables and bus systems exactly as in the vehicle. Human interventions can be done either by manual switches, pedals or a steering wheel. Or they can be simulated by Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) systems. By connecting to these HiL systems, test cases can also be performed automatically. …
