This special issue of the “Topics in Catalysis” contains the proceedings of the ninth International Congress on Catalysis and Automotive Pollution Control (CAPoC9) held in Brussels from August 29th to 31st, 2012. As did its predecessors, the conference provided a platform for discussions about the recent developments and trends in the abatement by catalysis technologies of unwanted automobile emissions. Despite the economic crisis currently plaguing us, the conference enjoyed large interest and attracted more than 240 participants from 36 countries. As usual, a large fraction of the delegates came from major catalyst manufacturers and car makers. We believe that the strong participation from industry explains at least partly the continuing interest in this most successful series of congresses. …
