With the M5 Competition, BMW is launching the most powerful version of its 5 Series. Engineers have teased 460 kW at 6000 rpm from the revamped 4.4-l gasoline engine, which also comes as standard in the M5 Series - an increase of 19 kW. The torque of the V8 unit peaks at 750 Nm and is available between 1800 and 5800 rpm. One special feature is the cross-bank exhaust manifold used, which claims to ensure an exceptionally quick turbocharger response alongside an optimized gas-exchange cycle thanks to precisely directed exhaust gas flows. The M5 Competition is also fitted with a particulate filter to reduce pollutant emissions. An eight-speed automatic gearbox governs power transmission. The results: the all-wheel drive 5 Series flagship accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 s and from 0 to 200 km/h in 10.8 s.
