BorgWarner has introduced a new and integrated complete solution for Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) into their portfolio. The solution is reported to significantly reduce the NOx emissions of diesel engines and support the fulfillment of the latest regulations such as Euro 6d. The system introduces an exactly measured quantity of exhaust gas to the intake air and, according to the manufacturer, as an inner-engine system is an effective and cost-efficient solution. It reduces the NOx emissions through an optimized heat transfer and a lower oxygen concentration in the combustion chamber and through the resulting lower peak temperatures in the cylinder. The high thermal resilience also results in high efficiency even with minimum coolant flow and makes the solution permanently effective. The EGR module combines numerous technologies such as an EGR cooler, a bypass and an EGR valve in a compact housing.
