Abstract

In this work, three different kinds of CeO2 nanosheets on the optical fiber have been purposefully synthetized by a simple and efficient hydrothermal technology. These CeO2 nanosheets were examined by X-ray diffractometer, scanning electron microscope, Raman spectrometer system, fluorescence spectrophotometer and vibrating sample magnetometer. The results show that the morphology of the obtained CeO2 samples gradually transforms from mooncake-like to heart-like, then to dart-like with the decrease of the polyvinyl pyrrolidone concentration, and a number of Ce3+ ions and oxygen vacancies arise in the obtained CeO2 nanosheets. The XRD patterns show that all the obtained nanosheets are pure ceria with cubic fluorite structure. The different morphology of samples as well as the existence of Ce3+ ions and oxygen vacancies in the surface can lead to wider photoluminescence emission band and an enhancement of room-temperature ferromagnetism.
