Although single-phase simulation is relatively simple on account of the lack of an explicit temporal representation, it is sufficient for many applications, since temporal relationships are often implicit. In Fig. 30.1, for example, it is obvious without an explicit time representation that the arrows on the materials represent a strict before/after relationship.
