Star-Shaped Thermosensitive Poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazines) with the Calixarene Core

Abstract

Novel star-shaped polymers with the calixarene-type central core and oligo(2-ethyl-2-oxazine) arms are synthesized by cationic polymerization. The kinetic features indicate a slow initiation of polymerization followed by a rapid chain growth. It is demonstrated that the aqueous solutions of the synthesized polymers have a lower critical solution temperature which depends on the core structure. The polymer with the thiacalixarene core is shown to be capable of stabilizing gold nanoparticles.
