The western part of the Argentinian Republic is occupied by the southern and middle sections of the orogenic belt of the Andean Cordillera. In this wide area are located the most important uraniferous districts of the country (Fig. 1). Some of the districts cover wide areas, showing that similar metallogenic conditions developed over such zones; these conditions include source rock, leaching of uranium, transport, precipitation by reduction, and preservation of enriched strata. In the Argentinian Andes, as in other places of the world, uranium accumulations are associated with continental episodes in post-Carboniferous times (Table 1).
